Heating Pad
A heating pad is a way to manage body pain with the use of thermotherapy. Localized application of heat causes dilation in the blood vessels and improves perfusion on the targeted tissues. Pain can occur due to muscle strain or exertion causing tension in tissues and muscles. This can lead to blood constriction and sending pain signals to the brain. Heat application then eases the pain by improving the flow of oxygen and nutrients in injured tissues and fastens the healing process. Heat stimulates the skin sensation, thereby decreasing the pain signals being transmitted to the brain. It also helps in increasing flexibility of tissues around the injured area.
